The need and importance of Research & Development in the pharma industry cannot be overemphasized.
At Nalis pharmaceuticals, the R&D department oversees and supervises quality control activities for Nalis Pharmaceutical products, including tablets, capsules, suspensions and water analyses. The team oversees new product developments such as:
- Phytodisinfectants for septic wound treatment research and production.
- Developing new target drugs for treatment of anxiety and depression from nutraceuticals.
- Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research and development, to which the division is improving the antibiotic activity spectrum of already existing antibiotics using novel compounds.
- Novel antiseptics and disinfectants with new compounds.
- Directing the Production of Useful active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) from identified natural products
The Research and Development of Nalis Pharmaceuticals is made up of research analysts who hold extensive experience in the industry, and the team has achieved many successes recently, including:
- modified paracetamol with identified bio molecules, improving it's bioavailability and antiinflammatory activity;
- improved Azithromycin, reversing antibiotic resistance in bacterial isolates.
The Research & Development efforts of Nalis pharmaceuticals is currently led by Prof Kenneth Yongabi, (PhD, D.Sc, FCAS, FAIPH, FPHP, MIOBB, MANMA), a titular distinguished professor in Public Health, Infectiology and Phyto-biotechnology, an Integrative medicine expert, with over 200 peer review scientific publications, more than a 150 conference papers and proceedings, 4 books, a number of monographs, more than 9 scholarly book chapters, several technical papers, several scientific exhibitions posters & workshops, 3 patents, copyrighted products, etc.
Under the guidance and able leadership of the Prof Kenneth, the R&D department is tasked with the following responsibilities, among others:
- Enhancement of the quality of our medicines
- Implementation of new drug delivery system
- Improvisation in the manufacturing process
- Helps to know the diverse requirements of customers
- Aids to develop new medicines / medicines with differential formulations
